My practice is focused on cases where my clients have been injured due to the negligence and carelessness of other individuals or companies. I have successfully handled cases involving car accidents, trucking accidents, train intersection accidents, slips and falls, dog bites, animal attacks, and wrongful death. I have litigated a wide variety of negligence cases in state and federal court over my 28 years of practice.
I love the law but that is not how my career started. I grew up in Jacksonville and after completing elementary school and high school, I attended college at Vanderbilt University. After graduating, I went to work as a commercial loan officer with a major bank in San Diego. As a loan officer, my clients ranged from palm tree growers and injection molding companies to small business people and individuals. It was while I was working with my clients that I became aware of their legal needs. I had the opportunity to work closely with one of the attorneys at the bank and it sparked my interest in the law. I returned to Florida and enrolled in Stetson University College of Law where I participated in the Mock Trial Team trying cases against various law schools. I took classes through the summers and graduated early with honors. I paused long enough between semesters to marry my wife, Jennifer, a nurse practitioner who I met when she was a nursing student at Vanderbilt.
While I was at Stetson, I participated in an internship with the Pinellas County State Attorney’s office. I was fortunate to be surrounded by several smart, enthusiastic, and talented lawyers who were very kind and patient. The opportunity afforded me to participate in several DUI trials as well as argue a number of motions on a variety of legal issues.
My first job was with a personal injury firm in Jacksonville Beach and for the rest of my career, all I have ever done is help injured people. People do not call a personal injury attorney when their life is going well. They call when something unexpected has happened. They are in pain, they have medical bills, their car is wrecked, and their ability to work may be affected. I find it tremendously rewarding to help people navigate through a very challenging and often frustrating process. My goal is to listen to my client’s needs, educate them on the law, and provide them with a path that allows the best possible outcome. I do this through clear consistent communication. Clients have access to my cell phone in addition to my email.
One of the aspects I enjoy about personal injury law is pulling all the necessary pieces together. This starts with making sure the client is treating with a medical provider who can truly help the client get better; not just someone who will bill the client’s auto insurance. I review the potential theories of liability and I discover all available insurance coverage. I pull together witness statements, photographs, MRI studies, medical records, medical bills, and videos of medical procedures to impress upon the insurance representatives the seriousness of my client’s injury claim. If necessary, I retain medical experts, engineers, and economists to document and explain my client’s losses. Through this comprehensive approach, I can ensure my clients receive adequate and fair compensation for their injuries.
At Rosenberg & Calvin, P.A., we do not have case managers. We do not have people riding around in cars with a stack of contracts signing up clients. When you visit our office, you will meet with a lawyer. If you have questions, you will speak with an attorney. I will be the one presenting your case to an insurance representative and if necessary, I will be the one sitting beside you at trial.
Jacksonville has plenty of accident attorneys. I think the most distinguishing characteristic about myself is the fact I enjoy educating clients. I find once clients understand the process of a personal injury claim, many of their questions and concerns are addressed. I also find clients respect my opinion as we go forward with their cases because I have established the foundation of knowledge and trust. I am an AV-rated attorney – Martindale Hubbell’s highest peer-reviewed rating for legal ability and ethical standards. I am the past President of the Jacksonville Justice Association, a local group of civil justice trial attorneys dedicated to the rights of individuals. I have served on my local high school alumni committee and I have held several positions on the Booster Board for my children’s high school. I enjoy spending my spare time with my wife, two dogs, and traveling to spend time with my kids. My son is a senior in college and I volunteer taking photographs of various sporting events. My wife and I also enjoy visiting our daughter who lives in New York. I am a former youth coach for soccer and football. I enjoy technology and all outdoor activities.
Make an appointment and sit down with me. It does not cost you anything. If we are the right fit, I would be happy to help you through the personal injury process.
